Little Troopers - grant award October 2017

Little Troopers supports children with parent(s) in our British Armed Forces.

These children face unique daily challenges especially when they experience repeated separation of varying lengths of time from their serving parent(s) due to exercises, training, operations and other service commitments.

It was set up by Louise Fetigan, a British Army veteran, whose husband is currently serving in the armed forces.

The Veterans’ Foundation grant has been used in several ways - all of which support the children of servicemen and women.

The funding has allowed for the creation of a secondary school pack which helps to ‘educate the educator’ about the specific needs of military children.

The grant has also supported the creation of a teaching pack for military children with special needs, as well as further schools packs for both secondary and primary education - these include lesson plans, aids and ideas.

“The grant has allowed us to create material which will provide support, education and learning for both students and teachers - it will make a huge difference to our children whom can have very specific needs.

It will help thousands of children in education to get consistent support," explained Louise Fetigan.
