The Ripple Pond Grant Awarded
The Ripple Pond is a UK wide self-help peer support network for the adult family members of physically and emotionally injured service personnel and veterans.
What does Ripple Pond do?
This is the second grant received from the Veterans’ Fund, the first helped The Ripple Pond set up at 24/7 helpline providing support to those in their time of need.
Over the past year, thanks to the grant from The Veterans’ Fund and other supporters The Ripple Fund has grown from strength to strength.
With 26 active meetup groups around the UK and bi-monthly Skype meetings, this support network is becoming increasingly important to its patrons.
One person who has been helped by The Ripple Pond told us: “It’s lovely to know that I’m not alone. Unless you have lived in our situation it’s very hard to understand what living with PTSD as part of your life is like”
The invaluable support The Ripple Pond gives was highlighted by another user: “Shared experiences, given advice and encouragement regarding other support available that has led to an invaluable source of help for myself and husband.”
The Ripple Pond focuses on supporting the family members of suffering service personnel and veterans by helping them meet and speak to people in similar situations.
The charity was established in 2011 by Julia Molony and Sue Hawkins, both of them mothers to physically injured soldiers.
They each reached out in a time when their lives were changing forever and found little in the way of support for the parents of the injured. Realising if they were in this position others would be too; they formed The Ripple Pond.
