Fares4Free

Why does the Veterans' Foundation support Fares4Free?

As the name suggests, this is a free charitable transport service that seeks support from taxi drivers and companies to provide lifts to help veterans access essential services as well as combating isolation.

With more than half a million veterans living in Scotland, Fares4Free has identified a significant number of these ex-servicemen and women encounter difficulties when transitioning to civilian life.

That can lead to loneliness and the domino effect may result in individuals failing to attend vital appointments. Sometimes the first step to recovery is a friendly face and a lift.

Fares4Free work with over 30 charities and organisations who refer veterans for assistance and the network delivers a 24/7 service covering the Highlands to the Borders.

How you can support the Veterans' Foundation

The Veterans’ Foundation has provided grants to hundreds of UK-based military charities and organisations since its inception in 2016. It is dedicated to distributing funding to where it is most effective and millions of pounds have been given to projects that have a positive impact on British veterans, and their dependents, in need.

If you’d like to become of a supporter of the Veterans’ Foundation you can do so by making a donation, by fundraising, by leaving something to Veterans' Foundation in your will or by joining the Veterans’ Lottery. Thank you.
