30 veterans in the Greater Manchester area will benefit from specialist one-to-one mentoring support thanks to Veterans’ Foundation funding.
A £20,000 grant will aid the delivery of Foundation 92’s brand new ‘First Step Forwards’ programme, employing a full-time Community Support Co-Ordinator who will play an integral role in delivering the new initiative.
This new programme is designed to reach out to ex-service personnel across Greater Manchester, providing support that focuses on mental health, housing, employment and social inclusion.
In addition to this, three drop-in hubs will be created throughout Salford to provide veterans with an informal service which will help create strong, positive communities.
“Foundation 92 would like to place on record its sincere thanks to the Veterans’ Foundation for the support provided to the First Step Forwards programme,” said Tom Hutton, head of Foundation 92.
“As a charity, we are committed to working with veterans within the City of Salford, enabling them to develop the confidence to thrive within civilian street,” added Tom.
“The support of the Veterans’ Foundation is imperative to enabling veterans who face marginalisation to achieve their potential.”
The official charitable partner of Salford City Football Club, Foundation 92 was set up by Manchester United’s famous ‘Class of ‘92’ and uses the power of football to support marginalised individuals to lead healthy, progressive and positive lives.
