'Truly Amazing' Grant Supports Veterans' Powerboat Thrills

November 25 2021

More veterans than ever will be able to experience the thrill of powerboat racing courtesy of a £30,000 Veterans' Foundation grant.

The award will be used by Team Endeavour Racing UK to fund the core costs involved with the unique activity and will also allow the charity to run their own race series through the 2022 season.

“A lot of former service people miss the camaraderie and security of the military, and they also miss the rush, said David Taylor, Director of Team Endeavour Racing UK.

“For those who do not respond to more traditional treatments, taking up a hobby or sport can be hugely beneficial, and Powerboating can address many of the issues our beneficiaries face such as stress and anxiety,” he added.

“Powerboating allows wounded, inured and sick beneficiaries to take their mind off things in a way that is constructive, enjoyable, exciting and with a purpose.”

This Veterans’ Foundation grant will help to maintain the growth of the fantastic program and increase the number of active veteran members going into the new season.

“Without the support of the Veterans' Foundation, we would not be able to provide the support and activity,” explained David.

“This goes a long way in supporting our beneficiaries and is truly amazing knowing that we have the support of the Veterans Foundation and everyone who plays the Veterans’ Lottery.”

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for your support.”
