British Armed Forces veterans on the south coast will be able to access rapid mental health assistance thanks to a Veterans’ Foundation grant.
Veterans Outreach Support (‘VOS’) have received a £30,000 grant which will allow the charity to provide immediate support to veterans and their partners based in and around Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
The funding will form a significant contribution to the cost of providing VOS’ clinical support services to veteran and family service users in 2022, including mental health triage, drop-in meetings and weekly clinics.

VOS runs monthly drop-in services in Portsmouth and Newport, alongside peer-supported activities and a number of social groups, all designed to provide a bespoke service to our ex-service personnel.
The charity has a team of clinical professionals that carry out a range of clinical interventions between drop-ins, including psychiatric diagnosis and medication review, psychological assessment and therapies, and substance misuse recovery support.
“VOS is almost entirely grant-funded so the continuing support from Veterans’ Foundation helps to ensure our ability to deliver the planned mental health services which are a unique and crucial aspect of our service delivery,” added Ian.
“With clinical costs at close to £175k, this grant will cover around 17% of our overall clinical budget and will make a significant difference to the veterans we support.”
