The Veterans’ Foundation’s Trustees considered bid for grants yesterday, which will be confirmed in mid-June. Through the public’s support of the Veterans’ Foundation by playing the Veterans’ Lottery and by making donations, £1.2 million was provisionally allocated; the third quarter in a row that the Veterans’ Foundation has given out over £1 million to good causes providing assistance to veterans in need.
This is a terrific amount of money that is on its way to charities and charitable organisations that support Armed Forces personnel and their dependants in a variety of ways, including those to tackle mental health challenges, homelessness, unemployment and pressures on families.
Our standard grants are £30,000 and our specific salary grants are £40,000 over two years. If you know of a charity or charitable activity that supports veterans and their dependants, please invite them to apply through our website.
The Memorial Wall continues to grow. It is a way for the public to remember members of their family who served in the armed forces and to help the Veterans’ Foundation raise money through donations. Do please add your loved ones to the Memorial Wall, as I have, to make it THE online Armed Forces memorial in UK.
Next month we will be employing a new member of staff to oversee fundraising, other than the Veterans’ Lottery. We look forward to Sarah’s arrival as she will be able to work with individuals and businesses who’d like to support the great work that the Veterans’ Foundation does.
One already very successful initiative that we began a couple of months ago was to invite our supporters to set up a will through Farewill for no charge; many of you have done just that and very kindly left a legacy in your wills. This is a tremendous way to support the Veterans’ Foundation in the future and we offer you our heartfelt thanks.
And finally, some dates for your diary: I hope may of you will be participating in the Jubilee celebrations between 2nd-5th June, and then celebrating Armed Forces Day on 25th June.
