Why does Veterans' Foundation support Give Us Time?
Give Us Time offers British Armed Forces personnel the opportunity to spend time with their family on holiday, away from the stress of day-to-day living.
The charity understands that having a partner or mother or father away for a lengthy period can drastically affect the domestic dynamic. By offering these trips away, Give Us Time helps strengthen the family unit.
Holiday companies and generous accommodation owners donate their properties at one or several of their getaways to Give Us Time - who then match them with British Armed Forces’ families.
During the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, over 220,000 service personnel were deployed. Most of these spent at least six months away from home at a time - often leaving partners and young children behind.
Due to the nature of the conflicts, many returned with severe mental health problems, fatigue and even physical injuries. Transitioning back into everyday life presents a huge challenge for servicemen and women but Give Us Time believe that process can be greatly helped by giving families the chance to get away and reconnect.
How you can support the Veterans' Foundation
The Veterans’ Foundation has provided grants to hundreds of UK-based military charities and organisations since its inception in 2016. It is dedicated to distributing funding to where it is most effective and millions of pounds have been given to projects that have a positive impact on British veterans, and their dependents, in need.
