Veterans Into Logistics has been awarded a grant of more than £100,000 from the Veterans' Foundation’s new major grants programme.
The £105,060 grant will allow the charity to provide 22 veterans with fully-funded HGV driver training leading to lifetime careers in logistics.
The award is one of the first in the Veterans’ Foundation’s new major grants scheme, launched this summer to support projects with the potential to aid the mental health of veterans’, serving men and women, and their families.
These grants are valued at between £100,000 and £200,000 and eight were awarded in 2024.
This grant forms a significant part of a £700,000 funding effort supporting 11 Veterans Into Logistics’ projects focused on helping veterans and their families gain the qualifications and skills needed for meaningful employment.
General Manager, John Harker MBE, said: “Thank you to the Veterans’ Foundation for this invaluable support and to everyone who plays the Veterans’ Lottery for making these vital grants possible.
“As veterans ourselves we understand the challenges that come with transitioning to civilian life and we work closely with our veteran learners, logistics partners, and the broader armed forces community to provide dedicated support that ensures each veteran's journey to a rewarding HGV career is as smooth and successful as possible.”
The Veterans’ Foundation’s Grants Manager, Sarah Kelling, said: “Veterans Into Logistics Holistic HGV Pathway into Employment project helps empower veterans, especially those who may face unique challenges.
“We felt this support was deserving of significant funding for the aid provided to those such as early service leavers and veterans experiencing underutilisation or struggling due to holding criminal convictions.”
