I am Stella Atherstone and am delighted to introduce myself as the COO of the Veterans' Foundation, which I co-lead with Jane Gurney.
I have responsibility for the internal operations of the organisation and oversee the grant funding programme.
I feel incredibly privileged to be leading a charity that supports the vital community of veterans across the UK.
I come to the VF having been the Strategic Financial Advisor to one of the Cambridge colleges and before that the CFO of CILEX and the co-Managing Director of the Peter Jones Foundation.
Businesses are complicated, and the charity and lottery sectors are highly regulated, so my expertise allows me to ensure the highest levels of compliance.
Having the opportunity to oversee the grants programme is the bonus element of my job.
We have funded over 500 small and medium-sized armed forces charities in the last 9 years with millions of pounds of grants.
This funding comes from your lottery ticket, and we are so grateful for your help.
We are delighted that, each year, the cohort of lottery players continues to grow, and so my role is focused on making sure that we have the necessary infrastructure to do that as efficiently as possible.
